sweetmactips:

sebjc answered your question:I’m in a rut. What sort of things do you guys want to know?

How about some cool Mac facts that we didn’t know or facts about the Mac production guys or Jobs?

Here’s the second part of what I’m calling “Broad Topics.”

  1. Did you know the original Apple I sold for $666.66? It wasn’t anything satanic, it’s just that Steve Wozniak has a thing for cool number patterns.
  2. There was an original “Pete Best” of Apple if you believe it or not. Ronald Wayne held a 10% stake in Apple at the very beginning. He sold it 2 weeks later for $800.
  3. Steve Jobs’ Mercedes AMG has a barcode instead of a license plate. Here it is parked on Apple’s campus.
  4. Mac OS X has its roots in a company Steve Jobs started after he was fired from Apple, called NeXT. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this demonstration. If you want to get blown away, skip to about 2 minutes in. Look a bit familiar? Now keep in mind that the version he’s demonstrating was released nearly 20 years ago. One more time…NEARLY 20 YEARS AGO.
  5. If you work at Apple campus, (and I know this from experience) you’ll see people walking around with black cloaks over things. A common answer to the question, “What are you working on?” is “Stuff.” The secrecy is pervasive even at 1 Infinite Loop. Though, Steve can be seen buying his sushi at Cafe Macs.
  6. Speaking of Apple campus, there’s 2 rules when you’re on campus. “Don’t stalk Steve” and “No tailgating.” “Tailgating” is when someone in front of you waves their badge at the prox reader, and either because they hold the door open for you or you rush through, you walk through having never waved your badge. It’s perfectly acceptable for someone to hold the door, you’re just to wave your badge at the reader to make sure you’re allowed to where you’re going.
  7. I bet you didn’t know that Apple has won an Emmy award for the invention of FireWire.
  8. I bet you also didn’t know that they won the Academy Award for FireWire too.
  9. The Apple Lisa was named for Steve Jobs’ daughter.
  10. Steve Wozniak sold his HP calculator and Steve Jobs sold his VW van to raise $1300 and began Apple Computer, Inc. in Steve Wozniak’s parents’ garage.
